Manager & Assistant Selection Process

MXoN Team Manager / Assistant Manager

The Motocross of Nations is sanctioned by the F.I.M. (Federation Internationale de Motocylisme) based in Switzerland. www.fim-live.com Participating countries must enter their team through their FIM affiliate. The CMA (Canadian Motorcycle Association) is Canada’s affiliate and has been for more than 60 years. The CMA is responsible for selecting the Manager and Assistant Manager.

The positions of Manager and Assistant Manager are voluntary.

 

The CMA issues a “Request For Applicants” for the position of Manager and Assistant Manager.

This is usually done in October and it is posted on websites, mailed out to CMA members and issued to the media via a press release.

 

Applicants must be current CMA members.

Applicants forward application to the CMA by the specified date.

 

The CMA Board of Directors reviews the applications prior to their Annual General Meeting.

The CMA announces the Manager and Assistant Manager after the applicant deadline or at their Annual General Meeting. The AGM is held in late November or early December. 


There are specific duties associated with the position of Manager and Assistant Manager. (Refer to “Duties” section for details.) The most important duty is fundraising and the Team Manger is responsible for the Team’s finances.

Duties of Manager and Assistant Manager

The duties are shared between the Manager and the Assistant Manager

  1. Fundraising
  2. Accounting, Finances, Banking, Legal requirements
  3. Communication with FIM, CMA, various teams, media
  4. Selection of Team
  5. Ensure rider entry forms are complete and submitted properly
  6. Booking flights and hotel rooms
  7. Arranging shipment of bikes to/from event
  8. Arranging ground transportation
  9. Managing travel arrangements throughout event
  10. Arranging for the Team’s pit area at the track
  11. Registration of Team upon arrival
  12. Managing the riders credentials required by event organizers
  13. Attend Managers Meeting with event officials
  14. Reviewing Supplementary Regulations and ensuring compliance Manage practice times and locations, promotional events, press conferences, meals during event, transportation
  15. Arrange for hospitality at the event
  16. Issue an Event Report to the CMA and media after the event
  17. Issue thank you letters to the supporting sponsors and media

The CMA requires the current years Team Manager to write a “post race” report to their Board of Directors. This report is due prior the CMA AGM
